HOW DOES COACHING DIFFER FROM THERAPY?

Coaching and therapy differ in some significant ways. Coaching is a more collaborative process, it is generally not as "hierarchical" as the therapeutic relationship can be. Tangible results are often experienced more quickly than therapy provides. Therapy is a more appropriate option for anyone with a clinical psychological diagnosis other than minor anxiety or depression. 


WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM OUR FIRST SESSION?

All coaching sessions are conducted over the phone. During our first conversation, I will ask you questions about your life and offer a safe space for you to share your concerns, pain, struggles, etc. I will be able to offer you some first impressions and evaluate your needs. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. This part of the initial process is to determine the “goodness of fit.” The most important part of the coaching relationship is the fit between the client and the coach Because coaching is a relationship, it must be built on trust and chemistry. It is from there that we can best work towards change.


HOW LONG IS THE PROCESS AND HOW OFTEN ARE SESSIONS?

The coaching process usually takes between 3 and 4 months. Most people schedule weekly sessions. I do not have a strictly enforced session time, most last approximately 75 minutes. 


DO YOU HAVE A CANCELLATION POLICY?

Yes. There is no charge for appointments canceled 24 hours in advance. You are responsible to pay for appointments canceled less than 24 hours in advance, or missed. If I am able to find you another time slot during the same week for an appointment canceled less than 24 hours in advance, I will do so. 


DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

I do not participate with any insurance companies. 


WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

I accept checks or electronic payments. 


WHAT IF I NEED TO SPEAK TO YOU IN BETWEEN SESSIONS?

One of the benefits of working with me is that you will have access to me in between sessions via text, email, and phone should you need it. While I may not be available at that moment, I will get back to you as soon as possible. We may have a text exchange, an email exchange, or a phone call lasting 15 minutes or less. Anything longer would indicate that you might require an additional session for that week. There is no additional charge for these services.
